Neurological assessments: Examination of cerebrospinal fluid system: Suboccipital puncture for cerebrospinal fluid collection
Your cerebrospinal fluid was tested.
Cerebrospinal fluid is a clear fluid that is formed in the brain. There are cavities with cerebrospinal fluid in the brain, around the brain and around the spinal cord. Among other things, the cerebrospinal fluid cushions the brain and spinal cord during knocks and also nourishes the brain cells.
A needle has been inserted into the cerebrospinal fluid at the rear of your head. The needle is used to drop a tiny amount of cerebrospinal fluid into a test tube.
