Your eye movements were tested with a view to clarifying your dizziness.
Dizziness is characterized by uncertain balance. The organs of balance are located in each ear. There can be various reasons for dizziness.
For example, balance is closely related to vision. To study a balance problem more closely, therefore, eye movements can be tested. To do the testing, small metal plates can be stuck to the temples and to the skin above and below the eyes. The small metal plates can measure the eyes’ movements. A large pair of glasses that incorporate a camera may also be used. Glasses like these can film and record the eyes’ movements.
The eyes’ movements are then studied under different conditions. For example, the eyes’ movements can be studied while the body is put in a different position. The eye movements can also be studied if a balance organ is stimulated. A balance organ can be stimulated by, for example, introducing warm or cold water into an ear. If the eyes tremble under certain conditions, it can indicate the cause of the dizziness.
