Neurological assessments: Other neurophysiological assessments: Neurophysiological diagnostic procedures in patients with vertiginous syndromes: Subjective visual vertical test
Your balance was tested with a view to clarifying your dizziness.
Dizziness is characterized by uncertain balance. The organs of balance are located in each ear. Sensory cells in the balance organs perceive when one moves one’s head. As a result, we can sense whether we are moving up, down or sideways. This is important for one’s balance and for one’s spatial orientation.
To study your balance, you were shown a line in a dark environment. You were required to align the line so that it ran straight, from top to bottom. The way you align the line can help explain problems with your balance and spatial orientation.
