Surgery was carried out on you that involved stimulating certain areas of your brain with an electrical current.
The brain is located inside the head. It receives, processes and stores sensory impressions. The brain controls movements and various physical functions.
Your cranial bone was opened up, under general or local anesthetic, to do the examination. Small electrical currents were then sent to your brain. The currents stimulate certain parts of the brain. This can enable key skills to be more accurately assigned to particular areas of the brain, for example. These areas can then be given particular protection during surgery. Key skills include speech, for example. You were conscious during the examination. This may be necessary so that you can speak while being examined, for example.
