1-212.3:
Diagnosis of epilepsy: Invasive intraoperative diagnosis of epilepsy: Evoked potentials
You had surgery that involved measuring certain nerve pulses to the brain.
The nervous system includes all the nerves in the body, as well as the brain and the spinal cord. The nerves run from the brain and spinal cord into the body. They convey information in the body. The brain is located inside the head. It receives, processes and stores sensory impressions. The brain controls movements and various physical functions.
Certain nerve pulses to your brain have been measured. To do these measurements, the cranial bone is first opened up under anesthetic. Electrodes are then introduced onto or into the brain. Sensors may be small metal plates, for example. Measuring nerve pulses helps to identify where exactly in the brain certain information is being processed. Such information may include sensory impressions that one perceives. To do the testing, a nerve in the arm, for example, can be stimulated with a small electrical current.
Additional indicator
If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.
