Diagnosis of epilepsy: Diagnosis of syndrome in complex forms of epilepsy
Tests were carried out on you to explain your epilepsy.
Epilepsies are brain disorders that involve repeated seizures. Epilepsies have impacts on different life areas. These areas can be taken into consideration when seeking to explain a case of epilepsy. To do this, various tests are done over a period of several weeks.
Questions about work or social limitations are asked, for example. Various tests to assess mental abilities can also be carried out. Mental abilities include concentration, speech and memory, for example. Some drugs can affect epilepsy. So checks can be run to see which drugs are being taken and whether there are any side effects. Epilepsy can also be associated with mental illness. This includes, for example, anxiety disorders and depression. When evaluating a case of epilepsy, attention can also be paid to whether there are any indications of mental illness.
