Eye examinations: Measurement of intraocular pressure: Day- and night-time measurements over a 24‑hour period
The pressure inside your eye has been measured at different times during the day and at night.
There are two chambers in the front of the eye. Aqueous fluid flows through these chambers to nourish certain areas of the eye. The pressure inside the eye depends on the amount of aqueous fluid in the eye. Things such as the time of day and the position of the body can affect the pressure in the eye.
You have had the pressure inside your eye measured at different times of the day. Measurements are also sometimes taken at night. This testing is done using a special device. It involves blowing air at the cornea. The cornea is located at the front of the eye. It is transparent and curved. The curvature focuses light in the eye. This is vital to be able to see clearly. The device measures certain changes in the cornea, thus determining the pressure in the eye.
Additional indicator
