1-279.8:
Diagnostic cardiac catheterization: Other diagnostic cardiac catheterization: Probing of collateral vessels
Your blood vessels have been examined.
You had a catheter examination. A catheter is a thin tube. This tube is inserted into a blood vessel in the groin or arm, and pushed further in. Various instruments can be pushed at the front of the tube.
In your case, branches of blood vessels have been examined, amongst other things with a wire. Blood vessels can have branches. This type of branch can also sometimes become enlarged. This happens, for example, if not enough blood is able to flow through a vessel due to a bottleneck. Then the blood mainly flows to the relevant area of the body via the branches.
Additional indicator
If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.
- L: Left
- R: Right
- B: Both sides
