A tissue sample has been taken from your spinal cord.
The spinal cord is located in the spinal column. The spinal cord is made up of nerve fibers. The brain uses the nerve fibers to exchange information with the organs, skin and muscles.
The tissue sample can be taken using a needle, for example. To do this, the needle is inserted through the skin in the relevant area of the back. Then the needle is advanced to the point from which a tissue sample is to be taken.
