1-407.1:
Biopsy without incision on nervous system and endocrine organs: Imaging-guided percutaneous biopsy of endocrine organs: Pineal gland
Tissue samples have been taken from your pineal gland.
The pineal gland is in the brain. The pineal gland secretes messenger substances (hormones) that regulate things like the sleep-wake cycle of the body.
These kinds of samples are taken using a needle, for example. To do this, the needle is inserted through the skin on the head.
The tissue samples were taken using images of the inside of your head. This helps to control exactly where the tissue samples will be taken.
Additional indicator
If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.
- L: Left
- R: Right
- B: Both sides
