Tissue samples were taken from a joint in your shoulder girdle using a needle.
The shoulder girdle has several joints: The actual shoulder joint connects the humerus (upper arm bone) to the shoulder blade. A second joint connects the shoulder blade to the collarbone. The collarbone is also connected to the sternum by another joint.
The tissue samples were taken using a needle. This needle was inserted through your skin into the relevant joint.
