Biopsy of nerve tissue, hypophysis, pineal gland by incision and craniotomy: Intracranial biopsy by incision and craniotomy: Skull base
Tissue samples have been taken from bones in the base of your skull.
The brain is surrounded by a protective shell of bone, known as the skull or cranium. The lower part of the cranial bone is called the base of the skull. The brain rests on these bones from the inside. The base of the skull includes the bones behind the eyes, nose and ears. The bone at the lower and back part of the head is also part of the base of the skull.
To take the tissue samples from the base of your skull, the relevant bones were cut into.
