Biopsy of nerve tissue, hypophysis, pineal gland by incision and craniotomy: Intracranial biopsy by incision and craniotomy: Unspecified
Tissue samples have been taken from the inside of your skull or from your cranial bone.
The brain is surrounded by a protective shell of bone, known as the skull or cranium. The brain is made up of several areas. For example, the cerebrum is used to think and plan actions. In the cerebellum, movements are initialized and coordinated. The brain stem is responsible for various unconscious tasks such as breathing. The brain stem passes into the spinal cord.
When tissue samples are taken from the cranial bone, a cut is made into the bone in question. To take tissue samples from the inside of your skull, the cranial bone usually has to be cut into. To do this, small holes can be drilled or the bone sawn into. Afterwards, a piece of bone is removed from the skull.
