1-511.3:

Biopsy of nerve tissue, hypophysis, pineal gland by incision and craniotomy: Stereotactic brain biopsy: Cerebellum

Very targeted tissue samples have been taken from your cerebellum.

The cerebellum is part of the brain. The cerebellum is important for movement and balance. The cerebellum stores movement processes, for example, how one eats with cutlery or rides a bike.

The brain is surrounded by a protective shell of bone, known as the skull or cranium. To take the tissue samples from your cerebellum, tools were inserted very precisely into the inside of your skull. Three-dimensional images of your head were produced for this purpose before the operation. A computer was then used to calculate exactly where the tissue samples were to be taken.
