1-515.0:
Biopsy of nerve tissue, hypophysis, pineal gland by incision and craniotomy: Stereotactic biopsy of hypophysis and pineal gland: Pituitary gland
Very targeted tissue samples have been taken from your pituitary gland.
The pituitary gland is a gland in the brain. Many messenger substances are created for the body in this gland. These messenger substances influence growth, metabolism and sex hormones, for example.
To take the tissue samples, tools were inserted very precisely into the inside of your head. Three-dimensional images of your head were produced for this purpose before the operation. A computer was then used to calculate exactly where the tissue samples were to be taken.
Additional indicator
If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.
- L: Left
- R: Right
- B: Both sides
