Diagnostic endoscopy of upper respiratory tract: Flexible endoscopic evaluation of swallowing

Your throat was examined while you were swallowing.

The throat begins behind the mouth and nose. The throat connects the mouth and nose with the windpipe (trachea) and gullet (oesophagus).

To carry out the examination, a thin tube is inserted through the nose or mouth. A camera is attached to the end of the tube. This camera then sends images to a screen during the examination. It can then be seen whether the tissue is healthy or changed.

During the examination, you were asked to swallow. In this way, an assessment could be made of whether your throat is moving normally when you swallow.
