Diagnostic tracheobronchoscopy: Diagnostic tracheobronchoscopy: With autofluorescence

Your airways were examined from the inside.

When we breathe, the air gets into the body via the respiratory tract. The respiratory tract can be divided into the upper and the lower respiratory tracts. The nose and throat form part of the respiratory tract. The lower respiratory tract begins at the larynx in the throat. It includes the windpipe and the bronchia.

To do the test, a flexible tube or a rigid metal tube is inserted into the airways. This is normally done via the nose or mouth. Images of the airways are sent out via the flexible tube or the metal tube. In this way, the inside of the airways can be studied and assessed for any changes. During the test, a special light was shone on your airways. The special light enables any new tissue growth to be identified before it can be seen with normal light.
