Diagnostic endoscopy of upper digestive tract: Diagnostic intestinoscopy (endoscopy of lower jejunum and ileum): Motorized spiral endoscopy
Your small intestine has been examined.
The intestines are made up of the small intestine and the large intestine or colon. Most of the nutrients are absorbed in the small intestine. The large intestine (colon) is where water and salt are withdrawn from the stool. The last segment of the large intestine (colon) is the rectum. Stool then leaves the body through the anus.
For the examination, a tube was inserted via your mouth, oesophagus, and stomach. A camera is attached to the end of the tube. This camera then sends images to a screen during the examination. It can then be seen whether the tissue is healthy or changed.
A special tube was used in your case. There was a soft spiral on part of this tube. A motor rotated the soft spiral so that the tube moved through your intestine in rotating movements. In this way the tube could be pushed a long way into your intestine.
