1-650.2:
Diagnostic endoscopy of lower digestive tract: Diagnostic colonoscopy: Total, with ileoscopy
You have had a colonoscopy.
The intestines are made up of the small intestine and the large intestine or colon. Most of the nutrients are absorbed in the small intestine. The large intestine (colon) is where water and salt are withdrawn from the stool. The last segment of the large intestine (colon) is the rectum. Stool then leaves the body through the anus.
Your large intestine and the final section of your small intestine have been examined. The test involves inserting a tube via the anus. A camera is attached to the tube. This camera sends images to a screen. In this way, the intestine can be viewed from inside, and changes in the membrane can be searched for.
Additional indicator
If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.
- L: Left
- R: Right
- B: Both sides
