Diagnostic endoscopy of female genital organs: Diagnostic embryofetoscopy
You have had an examination of the child in your uterus.
You have had an examination of the child in your uterus. The child lies in a protective sheath, the amniotic sac. This is full of amniotic fluid. The umbilical cord connects the child to the placenta. To do the examination, a small incision is first made in the mother’s abdominal wall. A thin, rigid tube is then inserted through the incision to the uterus and the amniotic sac. A camera is attached to the end of the tube. This camera sends images to a screen. This enables a close examination of the child, the umbilical cord and the placenta.
