Medical evaluation for transplant: Medical evaluation and decision on indication for transplant: Other

An assessment has been made as to whether you should be given a donor organ.

Sometimes vital organs no longer work properly. There can be a variety of reasons for that. The affected people can be helped with a properly functioning replacement organ. The appropriate organ or tissue can be donated by other people. The donor organ or donor tissue has to be removed surgically.

A questionnaire and various tests are usually used to assess whether a person is suitable for a donor organ. There are many different factors involved, such as one’s state of health.

There is usually a very limited number of donor organs available. So there is a waiting list for the organ concerned.
