Other diagnostic measures: Additional information on diagnostic measures: Diagnostic use of flexible ureterorenoscope: Single-use ureterorenoscope

A flexible tube was used for the endoscopy of your renal pelvis and ureter.

There are 2 kidneys in the body. There is one on each side of the spine just below the ribcage. Each kidney is made up of renal tissue and a renal pelvis. The renal tissue purifies the blood and, by doing so, produces urine. The urine gathers in the renal pelvis. The urinary passages include the ureters, bladder and urethra. Urine flows from both kidneys into the bladder via the ureters. The urethra channels the urine outward from the bladder.

Endoscopy is used to examine the inside of the renal pelvis and ureter. The procedure involved inserting the flexible tube into your urinary tract. Usually, instruments such as the flexible tube are cleaned after the procedure using special processes. They can then be used again. A special tube was used in your case. This is used only once and disposed of after the examination.
