3-100.1:
Projection radiography with specialized procedure: Mammography: Specimen radiography
Tissue from your breast has been X-rayed.
The breast is made up of fatty tissue, connective tissue and the mammary gland. Milk is produced in the mammary gland during and after pregnancy so that the child can be fed.
You have had tissue surgically removed from your breast. The tissue was then examined with the X-ray device. The procedure involves sending X-ray beams through the tissue from an X-ray tube. This produces an X-ray image of the inside of the tissue. The X-ray image is generated as a result of the X-ray beams penetrating different parts of the body with varying degrees of effectiveness.
Additional indicator
If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.
- L: Left
- R: Right
- B: Both sides
