3-220:

Contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT): Contrast-enhanced computed tomography of cranium

You have had a CT scan done.

A CT scan involves sending X-rays through the body. This produces images of the part of the body that has been scanned. The images show the body as though it were cut into slices. This enables a view of the inside of the body. CT images make bones particularly easy to assess.

You have had a CT scan done on your head, using contrast agents. A contrast agent is a fluid. This fluid makes certain tissues show up better on CT images.

Additional indicator

If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.

  • L: Left
  • R: Right
  • B: Both sides

Further information

Note

Your doctor will assist you with any health-related questions and explain the OPS code to you in a direct consultation if necessary.
