Positron emission tomography (PET) with full ring scanner: Positron emission tomography of the heart
You have had a PET scan of your heart.
The PET scan involved injecting special materials into one of your blood vessels. The materials accumulate in particular areas of the heart, depending on their properties. How much of the material accumulates in an area also depends on how active the cells are in the location concerned. The materials give off weak radiation. A special camera is used to take special images. These images show where the materials have accumulated in the body.
Additional indicator
If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.
- L: Left
- R: Right
- B: Both sides
