Operations on the lens: Extracapsular cataract extraction [ECCE]: Other: With placement of an iris-fixated anterior chamber lens

The lens of your eye was surgically replaced by an artificial lens.

The lens of the eye is located behind the pupil. The pupil is a round hole in the iris. The lens of the eye is transparent, and lens-shaped like a magnifying glass. It lies in a fixed, transparent capsule made of connective tissue.

You then had an artificial lens inserted. The artificial lens now lies between your cornea and your iris. The cornea is located at the front of the eye. It is transparent and curved. The curvature focuses light in the eye. This is vital to be able to see clearly. The colored iris is located in the center of the eye. There is a black opening in the center of the iris. This is the pupil. The iris also controls how big the pupil is.
