Your retina has been marked for radiotherapy. This marking has now been removed.

The retina is a layer inside the eye. It contains a lot of sensory cells that can perceive light. There are sensory cells for colors and sensory cells for light and dark. The sensory cells pass the information on to the nerve cells in the optic nerve.

Treatment should only involve the retina undergoing radiotherapy in particular places. To achieve this, specific areas can be marked with small plates prior to radiotherapy. The plates are sometimes removed after the radiotherapy.

Additional indicator

If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.

  • L: Left
  • R: Right
  • B: Both sides
