Removal and restoration of teeth: Root tip resection and root canal treatment: Root tip resection in the anterior teeth area: With root canal treatment, orthograde

You have had a root tip removal with root canal treatment on the front teeth (incisors).

Every tooth consists of 3 sections: the crown, the tooth neck (cervix) and the tooth root. The crown is the visible part of the tooth. The tooth neck is covered by the gums. The tooth root keeps the tooth in the jawbone. Every tooth has a hollow interior. Connective tissue as well as nerves and blood vessels are found inside a tooth. The hollow space inside a tooth’s root is called the root canal. The root tip forms the lower end of the root.

Your root tip removal involved separating and removing the root tip from the root. For this purpose, the jawbone is usually opened at the root tip and closed again at the end of the operation. Your root canal treatment then involved removing the diseased inside of the tooth from the hollow space in the tooth. This was done through the crown of the tooth. The hollow space was then cleaned and disinfected. The root canal was filled in and sealed. Usually, crown treatment, for example with an artificial crown or bridge, is then required.
