Other larynx surgery and surgery on the trachea: Reconstruction of trachea: Closure of a fistula
You have had an operation on your trachea.
The trachea or windpipe begins below the larynx. It consists of many cartilage rings that strengthen the trachea. The trachea splits into 2 large airways in the middle of the chest. The airways then go into the lungs and branch out further.
You had a diseased fistula between your trachea and neighboring organs or the surface of your body. The operation closed this fistula.
