You have had an operation on your trachea.

The trachea or windpipe begins below the larynx. It consists of many cartilage rings that strengthen the trachea. The trachea splits into 2 large airways in the middle of the chest. The airways then go into the lungs and branch out further.

Part of the trachea in your neck has been removed. The tissue that was removed was replaced by other tissue or by a windpipe from another person. The surgery also involved making an artificial opening in your trachea.
