5-327.5:
Excision and resection in lung and bronchus: Simple (pleuro-)pneum(on)ectomy: Pleuropneum(on)ectomy with radical lymphadenectomy
You have had one of your lungs surgically removed.
The lungs are on the left and right side of the ribcage. They are also connected to the nose and mouth via the bronchial tubes and windpipe (trachea).
The operation also involved removing the smooth membrane around your lungs. The lungs are surrounded by a smooth membrane. A smooth membrane like this is also located inside the ribs. Both membranes cling to each other via a small amount of fluid.
The operation also involved removing all the lymph nodes in the area around the lung. The lymph nodes are small bean-shaped objects. They are found throughout the body. Lymph nodes filter the tissue fluid. They are part of the defense system.
Additional indicator
If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.
- L: Left
