5-327.8:

Excision and resection in lung and bronchus: Simple (pleuro-)pneum(on)ectomy: Pneum(on)ectomy, postmortal [for transplantation]

The lung has been removed for an organ donation.

The lungs are on the left and right side of the ribcage. They are also connected to the nose and mouth via the bronchial tubes and windpipe (trachea).

Certain organs can only be donated by people who have died because life is impossible without those organs. These include the heart or the lungs, for example. People can specify before they die whether they wish to donate organs. They can also specify which organs they wish to donate. If they have not specified anything, their next of kin make those decisions after they die.
