OPS-Code 5-339.62:
Other operations on lungs and bronchus: Other operations on lungs and bronchi: Plastic coating of bronchial or vascular anastomoses and/or sutures: With pericardium
An operation on your lungs or bronchi involved using tissue from another part of your body.
The air is breathed in through the mouth or nose. From there the air goes into the trachea via the larynx. At the end of the windpipe are two bronchial tubes (or bronchi) branching away from it. The bronchial tubes run into the lungs. What is more, the bronchial tubes divide into even smaller branches. The larynx, the trachea, the bronchia and the lungs are part of the lower airways.
The operation involved stitching bronchi or blood vessels. To cover or reinforce the stitches, tissue from your pericardium was used.
The pericardium is a layer of connective tissue surrounding the heart. There is some fluid in the pericardium (heart sac). So the heart is able to move inside this lining.
