You have had an operation to remove pathologically changed tissue from your chest.

The tissue concerned was located in the space between your lungs. We have 2 lungs. Various organs lie between the lungs, such as the heart, trachea (windpipe) and oesophagus (gullet). These organs are surrounded by connective tissue.

The operation involved opening up your chest.
