5-349.2:
Operations on chest wall, pleura, mediastinum and diaphragm: Other surgery on the thorax: Sequesterotomy on rib or sternum with insertion of a drug delivery system
You have had a piece of dead bone removed from your sternum or a rib.
The sternum is a flat bone at the front of the chest. The ribs and the two collarbones are attached to the sternum. When the dead piece of bone had been removed, you had a special material with a drug inserted at the location that had been treated. A drug like this acts against bacterial pathogens, for example, so that any bone inflammation will heal.
