You have had surgery on your subclavian artery.
Arteries are blood vessels that transport blood away from the heart. They supply all the tissue in the body with oxygen-rich blood. The subclavian artery supplies blood to the right side of the head and neck and to the right arm. Before you were born, this artery developed in an unusual way. As a result, your trachea or your oesophagus may have narrowed.
