Operations on cardiac valves and septa and vessels near the heart: Other heart operations for congenital anomalies: Correction of a faulty pulmonary vein opening: Partial

You have had a heart operation for a congenital deformity.

The heart pumps blood through the body. Inside the heart are 4 chambers. There are 2 heart atria and 2 ventricles. Both heart atria and both ventricles are separated from each other by a partition.

The oxygen-rich blood usually flows from the lungs to the left ventricle. In your case, because of the deformity, some of this blood was flowing to the right half of the heart instead. So your heart was not able to pump the oxygen-rich blood to your body properly. The purpose of the operation is to provide your body with an adequate supply of oxygen-rich blood.

Additional indicator

If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.

  • L: Left
  • R: Right
  • B: Both sides

Note

Your doctor will assist you with any health-related questions and explain the OPS code to you in a direct consultation if necessary.
