Operations on the coronary vessels: Disobliteration (endarterectomy) of coronary arteries: Endarterectomy, open surgical

You have had an operation to remove some deposits from your coronary arteries.

The heart is supplied with oxygen-rich blood via the coronary arteries. The coronary arteries are blood vessels that run around the outside of the heart. When a lot of deposits accumulate in the coronary arteries, they get narrow.

The operation involved making an incision in the front of your chest so that your heart could be operated on directly. The coronary artery concerned was then cut open so that the deposits could be removed.
