Operations on the coronary vessels: Creation of an aortocoronary bypass: Double bypass: With autogenous veins without external stabilization mesh

You had a bypass operation.

The heart muscle is supplied with oxygen-rich blood via the coronary arteries. The coronary arteries are blood vessels that run around the outside of the heart. When coronary vessels have narrowed or closed, the blood supply in the heart is no longer right.

Bypass surgery bridges narrowed or closed coronary arteries using replacement blood vessels. The replacement blood vessels then guide the blood past the affected sites. As a result, the heart should be better supplied with blood. In your case the locations concerned were bridged using replacement blood vessels from your own body.

In your case veins were used as replacement blood vessels. Veins are blood vessels that transport the blood back to the heart. Replacement veins often come from the lower leg.

A heart-lung machine may be used during bypass surgery. During surgery the task of a heart-lung machine is to replace the functions of the heart and lungs. Amongst other things, the heart-lung machine enriches the blood with oxygen and pumps it around the body.
