5-369.5:
Operations on the coronary vessels: Other operations on the coronary vessels: Closure of collateral vessels
You have had branches of your coronary arteries closed.
The heart is supplied with oxygen-rich blood via the coronary arteries. The coronary arteries are blood vessels that run around the outside of the heart.
The coronary arteries have branches. This type of branch can sometimes become very enlarged. This happens, for example, if not enough blood is able to flow through a vessel due to a bottleneck. Then the blood mainly flows to the relevant area of the heart via the branches. You have had this type of branch closed.
