Rhythm surgery and other operations on heart and pericardium: Pericardiotomy and cardiotomy: Pericardial drainage
A tube has been inserted into your pericardium.
The pericardium is a layer of connective tissue surrounding the heart. There is some fluid in the pericardium (heart sac). So the heart is able to move inside this lining.
The tube comes out from your pericardium. This tube enables fluid to be drained or sucked out into a container, for example. A tube like this is also called a drain.
