You have had a part of your pericardium removed.

The pericardium is a layer of connective tissue surrounding the heart. There is some fluid in the pericardium (heart sac). So the heart is able to move inside this lining.

The operation involved opening up your chest. The aim of the surgery was to enable fluid to drain from your pericardium. The aim of this treatment was to relieve the pressure on your heart.
