5-373.2:
Rhythm surgery and other operations on heart and pericardium: Excision and destruction of diseased heart tissue: Partial left ventricular reduction plasty (Batista)
You have had a part of your ventricle removed. This has made your ventricle smaller.
The heart pumps blood through the body. Inside the heart are 4 chambers. There are 2 heart atria and 2 ventricles. Both heart atria and both ventricles are separated from each other by a partition.
If the left ventricle is enlarged, the heart is no longer able to pump blood to the body properly. The operation makes the left ventricle smaller. As a result, the heart should be able to better pump blood to the body once more.
Additional indicator
If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.
- L: Left
- R: Right
- B: Both sides
