Rhythm surgery and other operations on heart and pericardium: Other operations on heart and pericardium: Adjustment of a dynamic annuloplasty ring
You have had a ring implanted into a leaky cardiac valve so that the valve is better able to close.
There are 4 valves in the heart. These valves ensure that the blood flows in the right direction. So they have to close tightly. They also have to open up fully so that the blood can be properly pumped out of the heart.
The opening that is actually sealed by the cardiac valve sometimes becomes enlarged. A ring can then be used to make the opening smaller again so that the valve closes better.
Additional indicator
If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.
- L: Left
- R: Right
- B: Both sides
