Incision, excision and closure of blood vessels: Incision, embolectomy and thrombectomy of blood vessels: Vascular prosthesis
You have had an artery in your abdomen opened up by an incision.
Arteries are blood vessels that transport blood away from the heart. They supply all the tissue in the body with oxygen-rich blood.
In the past, you had the blood vessel completely or partially replaced by a synthetic vessel. This is also known as a vascular prosthesis.
When a blood vessel is surgically opened, deposits or blood clots can be removed from the inside of the blood vessel or from the synthetic vascular replacement.
Additional indicator
If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.
- L: Left
- R: Right
- B: Both sides
