5-383.9e:
Incision, excision and closure of blood vessels: Resection and replacement (interposition) of (parts of) blood vessels: Gastric vein
A piece has been removed from a vein of your stomach.
Veins are blood vessels that transport the blood back to the heart.
The stomach is located in the upper left abdomen. The stomach stores food and breaks it down further. Harmful pathogens are also killed by gastric acid in the stomach. The stomach thus prepares the food for digestion in the intestines.
Sections of blood vessels may be removed, for example, if the blood vessel is enlarged there. A replacement, either from the person’s own body or an artificial one, can then be implanted into the blood vessel.
Additional indicator
If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.
- L: Left
- R: Right
- B: Both sides
