Incision, excision and closure of blood vessels: Other excision of (diseased) blood vessels and transplant removal: Other

You have had one or more arteries in your abdomen surgically removed.

Arteries are blood vessels that transport blood away from the heart. They supply all the tissue in the body with oxygen-rich blood.

Blood vessels may be removed if they have become enlarged somewhere, for example. When diseased or enlarged blood vessels are cut out, these blood vessels are no longer able to supply blood to the tissue. Care then needs to be taken that the tissue is supplied by other blood vessels. Blood vessels are also sometimes removed from one place in the body and implanted back into somewhere else.

Additional indicator
