Incision, excision and closure of blood vessels: Ligature and partial closure of vena cava: Clips

You have had an operation that involved closing off one or both of your venae cavae with special clips.

The venae cavae are large blood vessels. They collect oxygen-poor blood from the body and carry it back to the heart. There is a superior and inferior vena cava. A vena cava can be partially or completely closed. A vena cava may only be temporarily closed.
