5-388.42:

Incision, excision and closure of blood vessels: Suture of blood vessels: Pulmonary artery

You have had your pulmonary artery sutured.

Arteries are blood vessels that transport blood away from the heart. They supply all the tissue in the body with oxygen-rich blood.

Oxygen-poor blood gets from the heart to the lungs through the pulmonary arteries, where the blood is then enriched with oxygen.

A blood vessel sometimes has to be sutured after it has been cut open for treatment.

Additional indicator

If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.
