5-389.12:

Incision, excision and closure of blood vessels: Other surgical closure of blood vessels: Brachial artery

You have had an artery in your upper arm sealed.

Arteries are blood vessels that transport blood away from the heart. They supply all the tissue in the body with oxygen-rich blood.

To seal a blood vessel, it can be clipped or ligated, for example. Blood is then no longer able to flow through the vessel or out of the vessel.

Additional indicator

If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.

  • L: Left
  • R: Right
  • B: Both sides

Further information

Note

Your doctor will assist you with any health-related questions and explain the OPS code to you in a direct consultation if necessary.
